15 Green Things

For this assignment, we were given 15 green images. The task was to combine all 15 into one meaningful collage. I tried to make an Earth collage because the only thing that all of the images shared was that they were all things found on Earth. The Pepsi Refresh commercial where they sing "One Tribe" inspired me. They have an Earth collage made out of people's faces. I am satisfied with this work. Next time, I might do something different with the background.

Crazy Combo

For this assignment, we had to combine parts of different animals to create a new creature. I tried to use as many animals as I could fit in one body. I was inspired by all my favorite animals, such as the elephant, the koala, and the orca. I am satisfied with this work. If I did something different next time, I would use a different background.

Content Aware Delete--Love is All That You Can't Leave Behind.

 before
 after
I did this in my free time. I was inspired by the song "Walk On" by U2. The words in the picture are lyrics from that song. I also cropped out a lot of the picture, including Abby's head and the school building. I am really happy with this piece.

Lasso and Quick Selection Tool

For this assignment, I used the lasso and quick selection tools to delete some unwanted parts of the picture. First, I used a combination of both tools to delete light posts and trees in the background. Then I used a diffuse glow filter. Next, I used the magnetic lasso tool to turn Abby's head into black and white. I was inspired by a picture like this one that I saw on stumbleupon.com. I am satisfied with this work. When I took the picture, I thought it wasn't very good because of the stuff in the background, but now I love it.

Music

For this assignment, we were given a series of tasks to complete as an introduction to Photoshop. I scaled and rotated the music notes, changed the tie dye color, deleted some color stripes, and changed the colors of the musicians. All of the new tools I had never tried before inspired me. I am not totally satisfied with this piece because I would rather work with photographs, but I think I completed the assignment well.

History Brush

In this assignment, I used the history brush feature to give some aspects of the photograph color, while selecting some parts to be black and white. First, I changed the whole picture to monochrome. Then I used the history brush and clicked on parts of the picture that I wanted to be in color. When given this assignment, I tried to think of places with colorful light. I immediately thought of Rockefeller Center at Christmas. I thought about how winter is often gray and dismal, but Christmas adds so much color and joy to the season. I also thought of the Beijjing Olympics Opening Ceremony because it was so colorful against a night sky. I am satisfied with my work, I love the contrast. Overall, I think this assignment was successful.
